What you can do to stop the killing
Oppose the genocide of the Iraqi people, the occupation of Iraq, the crimes of the Blair Government the failure of police to enforce war law
1/ Join the national tax strike and stop the flow of funds that pay for the war. Write to Gordon Brown informing him that under the International Criminal Court Act you will commit a crime of ‘conduct ancillary to genocide’ if you pay tax which is used for illegal purposes associated with the war against Iraq and the mass murder of innocent Iraqis. Tell him that you are legally obliged to withhold all taxes until the government ends the illegal occupation of Iraq and ceases its crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes against the Iraqi people. More detail and sample letters at www.actionagainstwar.org/taxstrike
2/ Report war crimes to the police. Write / speak to your local chief constable and report the crimes committed by Tony Blair and members of the Government against the Iraqi people. Inform the Police that the actions of Tony Blair, MPs and others in ordering Britain’s armed forces to kill innocent Iraqi citizens constitute the crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes under section 51 of the International Criminal Court Act 2001, as well as crimes of murder, conspiracy to murder and waging a war of aggression. Remind them that it is their duty in law to investigate these crimes and to arrest and charge offenders; in particular those MPs resident in their district who voted in favour of the war on March 18th 2003. [More on the crimes and sample letters at www.actionagainstwar.org/reportcrime]
3/ Speak / write to your MP reminding them of their duty to uphold the rule of law and asking them to find out why Chief Constables are refusing / failing to investigate reported crimes committed by Britain’s political, civil and military leaders against the people of Iraq. [Earlier this year Action Against War wrote to every Chief Constable in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland asking them to investigate war crimes committed by Britain’s leaders and to charge offenders, but so far they have refused to do so] E-mail a copy of your MP’s response to Chris Coverdale
4/ Contact your local Police Authority and ask them to instruct the Chief Constable to investigate crimes committed against the people of Iraq and charge all offenders living or working in their area with crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, conduct ancillary to genocide, murder, conspiracy to murder or the world’s most serious crime ‘waging a war of aggression’.
